Don Jitsu Ryu – Karate

It is a fighting system created by Grandmaster Professor Don Jacob (who holds a 9th degree Black belt), that is modern in concept but ancient in character. It blends well with karate, Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, Taekwondo, traditional weaponry, self-defense techniques, roll routines and yoga. It is governed by a philosophy of determination to overcome many of life’s challenges and thus, it is not “just a style, it is a lifestyle”. Don Jitsu Ryu is a colored belt system. It is superb…, you just have to experience it!!

Fitness Kick-boxing

Do you want to get in shape, get toned, increase endurance & flexibility, build strength, relieve stress and maintain a balanced weight? Fitness cardio kick-boxing does just that. It is a fantastic, high-energy total body workout, where men, women and teens of all fitness levels get fit and stay fit. It also helps to improve athletic performance in any other sport. At Purple Dragon Point Grey, our qualified instructors will teach you a combination of techniques from Western boxing, Thai Kick-boxing and French Savate “foot fighting”.

Yoga

Core Power Flow Yoga

This class will help you build strength, increase flexibility and improve your balance. It is an energetic and dynamic Vinyasa series, meaning breath is linked to movement. We will move at a pace designed to build internal heat, engage and build core strength and focus on alignment and breath.  This yoga class is ideal for all levels of yoga students.

Therapeutic Yoga

This class is designed for those who: _ Are recovering from an injury and want to get moving again safely. _ Want to start practicing yoga in a small class size with close guidance. _ Want to improve body awareness and breathing. _ Want to optimize health and wellbeing The participant is encouraged to safely explore his/her own unique potential. Modifications are offered along the way to customize to any fitness level. Each session focuses on a different aspect of body and mind.

Vinyasa Flow Yoga

A fluid dynamic practice includes sequences of movements. The transitions between the postures are given as much focus as the postures themselves. Based on synchronizing breath with movement, in order to build strength, balance, and flexibility.

Hatha Yoga

A practice that emphasizes postural alignment while honoring the connection of body, mind and spirit. This style of yoga provides a combination of flexibility and strength.

Private Instruction

Privates means being able to follow your pace based on your life’s demands. It also means being able to receive personalized instruction; receive the instructor’s undivided attention and assistance as you explore more advanced techniques, learn to overcome challenges and push yourself deeper and further into the practice of martial arts and your fitness. It also means seeing results sooner by speeding up your learning. Our private classes include:

  • Karate / Don Jitsu Ryu
  • Cardio Kickboxing
  • Self Defence (general, women’s, girls’)  – Learn how to protect yourself and your loved ones!
    Self Defence is offered as  part of the Don Jitsu Ryu Curriculum or separately in Self Defence Bootcamps according to demand.
  • Traditional Weapons Training (from green belts up)
  • Yoga
Birthday Parties

YES, we do Birthday Parties too!! Birthdays are a blast at our dojo. Our beautiful space is the right environment for the perfect two-hour party. The birthday package includes:

  • One hour of fun & games in martial arts with an instructor
  • An additional hour of exclusive use of our dojo
  • Appropriate decoration for the birthday party celebration
  • Table and table cloth.
  • You bring the food and the cake.

$220 for members $260 for non-members Up to 15 children. Additional child: $10
